O&M Crush: Elliott Steele
How long have you been in the hairdressing industry and where did you start your career?
Started hairdressing 22 years ago. After finishing my apprenticeship in Victoria I worked In London for a few years. I then came back to Melbourne and opened my own salon. Which I have now had for 12 years and 1 year ago expanded and moved to a bigger salon.
Tell us about your salon.
With a total love for design I got to transform this beautiful old heritage post office into a stunning modern but timeless New York style salon whilst both respecting and maintaining the beauty of the building the exposed brick wall was a key element to my design.
I chose round mirrors, which are gently backlit creating a beautiful glow off the gorgeous brick wall and down onto the stunning marri wood bench tops. Private wet area where clients can relax in our fully reclining and massaging basins whilst being surrounded by the calming greenery. Other features are the marble reception and kitchen area with gorgeous hanging plants. But the thing that’s makes this salon amazing is the team we are more like a family and clients can see and feel the happy vibes in our own hidden oasis.
What is your favourite O&M product? Is it hard to pick one?
I love Style Guru and Atonic but my favourite would be Project Sukuroi.
What’s the best thing about your job?
So many things I love about hairdressing. Making people feel amazing is pretty special but the best thing would be chatting to my beautiful clients all day I actually never get tired of it.
